Selling myself has never come particularly naturally to me. I was comfortable talking about my business or my team, but put me in an interview and ask me to explain why I was the right person for the job and I found it surprisingly difficult.
We spent a lot of time working not just on what I should say, but on understanding and believing in the value I brought. That transformed my CV and written approaches, but the biggest difference was in interviews.
We role-played interviews, pulled apart my answers, practised the difficult questions and worked on how to communicate my experience confidently without feeling as though I was boasting.
By the end, I wasn’t trying to “sell myself” anymore. I knew what I brought to the table and was comfortable talking about it. That change in confidence was probably the single biggest thing I took from the whole process.
